Originally introduced in 1999 as “We are the NCS,” this slogan has long symbolized the deep connection between Norway’s offshore energy industry and the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Over the past two decades, the industry has evolved significantly, and this relaunch marks our renewed commitment and pride in the continued development of this vital sector.

For over a century, the Norwegian Continental Shelf has been at the heart of Norway’s value creation. The petroleum and maritime sectors have played a crucial role in driving innovation and advancing technologies that have reshaped the offshore industry. This success would not have been possible without the contributions of innovative suppliers and operators, who have consistently embraced and implemented groundbreaking technologies.
As the world transitions towards more sustainable energy solutions, new opportunities are emerging in ocean-based industries such as offshore wind. This global transformation requires cost-effective and innovative technologies—an area where Norwegian suppliers are already making strides.
Unprecedented Investments and Industry Growth
The year 2025 will see unprecedented investments, with more than NOK 200 billion being directed into the petroleum sector alone. A recent report estimates that the entire Norwegian maritime industry will generate NOK 906 billion in value creation by 2050, supporting around 140,000 employees. Notably, this includes an additional NOK 170 billion in value creation and 26,000 new jobs, specifically tied to carbon capture and storage (CCS) and floating offshore wind.
